Purpose
- To enhance food safety capacities through cooperative efforts; by arranging for MOUs to be signed for the exchange of food safety information, expeditious investigation and identification of causes of food safety problems, implementation of measures to prevent future incidents, etc.
Contents
- Information exchange of laws and technologies regarding food safety and quality standards
- Prompt investigation of any food safety contingencies and implementation and publicization of necessary follow-up measures
- Cooperation to expedite onsite inspection of exporters' facilities
- Active provision of information of the other party's relevant systems; such as overseas certified public inspection agencies and registration for Prior Inspection Completion
Current Status
- Invitation letters for MOUs have been sent to 6 countries: (Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia), as of June 10, 2008
- MOU signed with China (General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of P.R.C, China), Oct. 31, 2003 and revised on Nov. 26, 2007
- MOU signed with Chile (Ministry of Public Health, Chile) Jun. 20, 2006
- MOU signed with Vietnam (Ministry of Public Health, Vietnam) May. 29, 2009
- MOU signed with China and Japan (Ministry of Public Health and Welfare (Korea), Ministry of Health (China), Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (Japan) ), Nov. 23, 2009
