Please be notified of the purpose, reasons, and details of revision of the Criteria and Standards for Foods(Notice No. 2012-1 of KFDA, January 20, 2011) to consolidate opinions by letting the general public know about the revision of the Criteria and Standards for Foods in advance pursuant to Article 46 of the Administrative Procedure Act as follows.

Administrative Notice of Partial Revision of the Proposed Criteria and Standards for Foods

1. Revision reasons

To reinforce safety management for food by establishing new MRLs (maximum residue levels) for pesticide and veterinary drug and to provide safe food by securing reliability of examination and inspection

2. Details

A. Establishment of not detected standards for pesticide and veterinary drug in Article 1. General Provisions[Article 1, 1, 31]

(1) Clarification of not detected processing in the Criteria and Standards for Food

(2) To Secure reliability of examination and inspection

B. Revision of pesticides analytical method

(1) Arrangement of analytical method as used or registered newly pesticide and need to improve inefficient analytical method

(2) Establishment and revision of analytical method for 23 types including multi class pesticide

- Revision of Multi class pesticide multiresidue methods [Draft Article 10, 4.1.2.2]

- Revision of analytical method for Dicofol, Chlorobenzilate and Tetradifon [Draft Article 10, 4.1.3.1]

- Revision of analytical method for Isoprocarb(MIPC) and Carbaryl(NAC) [Draft Article 10, 4.1.3.3]

- Establishment of analytical method for Carbofuran(Carbofuran and 3-Hydroxycarbofuran), Benfuracarb, Carbosulfan and Furathiocarb [Draft Article 10, 4.1.3.30]

- Establishment of analytical method for Pyroquilon and Tricyclazole [Draft Article 10, 4.1.3.31]

- Establishment of analytical method for Chlorothalonil, Captan, Folpet and Captafol [Draft Article 10, 4.1.3.32]

- Establishment of analytical method for Aldrin, BHC(α, β, γ-BHC and δ-BHC), DDT(p,p'-DDT, o,p'-DDT, p,p'-DDE and p,p'-DDD), Dieldrin, Endrin(Endrin and δ-Keto-endrin), Endosulfan(α-Endosulfan, β-Endosulfan, Endosulfan sulfate), Chlordane(cis-Chlordane and trans-Chlordane) and Heptachlor (Heptachlor and Heptachlor epoxide) [Draft Article 10, 4.1.3.33]

C. Revision of veterinary drug analytical method

(1) Need to improve inefficient analytical method for veterinary drug in the Criteria and Standards for Food

(2) Revision of analytical method for Ractopamine, Clenbuterol [Draft Article 10, 5.3.63]

D. Revision of MRLs (maximum residue levels) for agricultural products [(200), (206), (209), and (324) of attachment 4]

(1) Rationalization of the MRLs (maximum residue levels) with variation of use and registration for pesticide

(2) Rationalization of the MRLs (maximum residue levels) : Hexaconazole for Garlic (Green garlic), Chlorfenapyr for Cucumber, Teflubenzuron for Korean Cabbage and Strawberry, Bifenazate for Mandarin

E. Establishment of new MRLs (maximum residue levels) for agricultural products [(1), (26), (29), (38), (50), (149), (206), (214), (218), (224), (225), (227), (237), (246), (248), (290), (321), (324), (335), (337), (349), (361), (380), (391), (403), (408), (409), (416). (417), (423) and (427) of Attached 4]

(1) Rationalization of management by preparing the MRLs (maximum residue levels) for newly additional agricultural products on the used or registered pesticide in the Pesticide Management Act

(2) Establishment of MRLs for agricultural products for 31 types including Iminoctadine

F. Establishment of new MRLs (maximum residue levels) for Veterinary drug

(1) Rationalization of management by preparing the MRLs (maximum residue levels) for the used or registered veterinary drug in the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act

(2) Establishment of new MRLs for veterinary drug : Mebendazole, Nitroxinil, Clorsulon, Tolfenamic acid, Tulathromycin and Cymiazole

3. Submission of Public Opinions

Any organization or individual with opinions on the notice of partial revision of the (proposed) Criteria and Standards for Foods should summit a statement with below information by May 30, 2012 to the commissioner of KFDA:
