MFDS Launched KS Expert Committee on Medical Products

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has launched an expert committee on KS (Korean Industrial Standards).

On Mar. 21, the MFDS announced that it launched the “KS Expert Committee”, a group of experts from various fields, including the industry, academia, testing agencies, and etc. looking to bring expertise and transparency to the process of KS development and management on medical products.

The committee consists of about 200 experts from 16 different fields, such as medical electronic devices, dental medical devices, surgical devices, and etc.

The expert group is expected to improve expertise in the process of KS development by conducting the following activities:

- research and review to establish industrial standards;

- research and review on documents related to international standards;

- support international standardization activities

“The launching of this expert committee will help contribute to enhancing transparency and expertise on the development of industrial standards. Going forward, the MFDS will continue its efforts to support companies to advance into the global market while enhancing the competitiveness of their products, by fully carrying out tasks concerning industrial standards.” the MFDS said.
