MFDS, Building Networks for Shared-Growth among Medical Device manufacturers/importers

- Medical Device Shared Growth Network Project-

The MFDS (Minister Sohn, Mun-gi) announced that it will launch a "Networks for Medical Device Shared-Growth" project, which is matching local small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) manufacturers with global importers to encourage them to cooperate in the field of research and development, marketing, etc. with a view to bolstering ompetitiveness of local medical device manufacturers.

- This project has been introduced following suggestions brought up at a grand discussion on regulatory innovation in medical devices, held in Feb. and it aims at promoting collaborative business approach between global importers and local SME manufacturers so as to strengthen cooperation in the fields of technology including technology know-hows, R&D items, etc. as well as sharing and supporting business strategies.

- Furthermore, the MFDS will organizae and operate Medical Device Shared-Growth Network Consultative Body with Korea Medical Devices industry Association(KMDIA), medical device manufacturers/importers, etc. to facilitate the shared growth network project.

- The Project has borne the first fruit as B.Braun Korea and Genewel. Co. signed an MOU under which the two companies will jointly research and develop medical devices for surgical pain management. Genewel. Co. will be in charge of manufacturing products that would be marketed through this joint initiative while B. Braun Korea of sales and exporing.
